Sheboygan Theatre Company is happy to announce auditions for their upcoming production of The Full Monty by David Yazbek and Terrence McNally. We are seeking men and women 18 and up, as well as one 12-year-old boy (or a child actor who’s able to play that age). Guest director/choreographer Stephen Santa and guest music director James Mablin have requested actors to prepare 32 bars of a pop/rock/contemporary musical theatre song. They would prefer not to hear music from the show until callbacks. Men are asked to be prepared to dance; there is not a dance call planned for women or kids at this time.
Auditioners, men in particular, should be aware that there is a strong suggestion of nudity in the show. Though there will not be “actual” nudity in our production, it will be strongly suggested in a way that the audience won’t know the difference. The principle actors’ bodies will be on display, but they are written to be and expected to be imperfect and “normal,” not a Chippendales dancer. This is weirdly the perfect show for male actors with body image issues, and all respect and patience will be shown to all actors of either gender or any orientation. There will not be nudity of any kind asked for at auditions. Actors (and parents of potential child actors) should also be aware that there is a fair amount of strong language in the show, though it’s generally handled with humor and grace.
Auditions will be March 27th and 28th starting at 6 p.m. Please contact Tom at email@example.com for an appointment, or if you have any questions or concerns. Callbacks, if necessary, will be held on March 29th. There is a full character breakdown on the auditions page, under the Participants menu.
